And So It Begins

Alaska began for me like so many trips, my head buried deep in a book trying to put the stress of departure and the anxiety of the new trip in the back of my mind. We were traveling at 30,000ft and had been looking at a sea of white clouds for some time, when I took a breath and a glance out the window to see massive snow-capped peaks poking out from above the veil of white clouds covering the ground. The size, the serenity of those mountains, took my breath away and made me more aware of the adventure ahead than I had been able to grasp before. What I saw, and realized at that moment, was that I would be amongst those great mountains gazing in wonderment for the next two solid months. I have dealt with a great amount of stress over the last few months, and I will undoubtedly face great hardships on the road ahead, but at that moment I realized and confirmed what this was all about. I want to live a life of great adventure, holding no regrets, and seeing as much of this wonderful planet and its people as possible. Please follow, I hope you glimpse a portion of all that keeps me excited for the road ahead!

  1. So excited for you! I hope that in the coming months of mountain gazing you are able to be in the moment as much as you were in your plane-ride gazing. Let your worries come and go as they may, and enjoy the journey! We will miss you in Bozeman (esp. at 511) but we’ll all be thinking fondly of you and wishing you well and sending you lots of positive energy. Take every chance you get to have “tribal dance moments” with the people you meet along the way and blog often!
